Rooted in Nature, Growing in Community.

Free Nature is more than a business—it’s a movement inspired by the beauty and resilience of nature itself.

Our founder, Shiann Currie, grew up in the lush, wooded neighborhoods of Decatur, Illinois, where she spent countless days splashing through creeks, climbing trees, and soaking in the joy of the outdoors.

Those woods were her sanctuary—a place of freedom, peace, and wonder. But as life became busier and responsibilities grew, the simple pleasure of connecting with nature felt like a distant memory.

Shiann created Free Nature to bring that feeling of freedom back—not just for herself but for everyone.

She saw how nature could heal, inspire, and connect, even in the middle of life’s storms.

For Shiann, plants became a symbol of resilience and growth, much like her own journey through life’s challenges.

From losing everything in a housefire to rebuilding her life and finding strength in the community, Shiann’s story is deeply woven into Free Nature’s mission.

We believe in the power of plants to heal, nurture, and inspire growth—both in the soil and in the soul.

At its heart, Free Nature is about more than houseplants.

It’s about creating a space where people can reconnect with themselves and others, whether through tending a plant, attending a greenhouse tea party, or simply sitting in a peaceful space surrounded by greenery.

Through Free Nature, we hope to restore a sense of freedom, connection, and joy that only nature can provide.

We’re here to remind you that no matter where you are in life, it’s never too late to find your creek, plant your roots, and grow.
